Celebrating The Fibre Co. Amble
Any yarn from The Fibre Co. is amazing to knit with. When you pick up a skein and squish it, you immediately want some for yourself!
Thanksgiving Hygge
Dear lovely readers,
This week I have been dealing with a broken thumb and two pins that were inserted to ensure proper healing. I had no idea that my ability to type would be severely impacted! I found one from Thanksgiving 2020 that is still relevant today and have posted it below. The only difference is that we now have a greater variety of candles in the shop!
Not Just Yarn!
This week, My Sister Knits would like to bring your attention to knitting accouterments, aka the things that make knitting easier or more fun!
Jolly Holiday Classes!
My Sister Knits has some more holiday fun for you! We have a few classes that might tempt you in November and December.
Let's Get Going!
Consider this a Public Service Announcement from My Sister Knits! The holidays are upon us and it’s time to start the gift projects you’ve been considering. Let’s make some decisions and get our needles out!
Jump On the Sophie Scarf Bandwagon!
What is so great about Sophie? I’m not quite sure where to start! In no particular order, here’s why we like it so, so much!
Let's Have Some Fun!
Let’s have some fun! I’ve been around My Sister Knits in the fall for years and have seen the Christmas stockings that people knit. I’ve admired them but have never wanted to knit one myself. I’ve had several hesitations about making them: I don’t knit socks, they’d take too much time while I was finishing other gifts, I was too busy otherwise, you get the picture!
Go On A Treasure Hunt!
My Sister Knits is full of treasures! Often we stick to what we know and love which can become monotonous. To avoid monotony, there are lovely, noteworthy delights that await our discovery!
Caitlin Hunter's Latest!
My Sister Knits is super lucky to have a sample of Caitlin Hunter’s latest pattern in the shop! As of this writing, the pattern is due to be published this week and you can see this stunning sweater on display now!
Socktober Sock Drive!
My Sister Knits is participating in the international month-long sock drive effort that is Socktober. Last year we collected 300 pairs of new, store-bought socks; we want to exceed that amount this year!
An Invitation
Join us for a presentation and book signing with Salt & Timber author and designer Lindsey Fowler @larkspurknits and Rachel Lundstrom of Six and Seven Fiber @sixandsevenfiber.
Besides Yarn.......
My Sister Knits carries beautiful yarn; that goes without saying. However, it’s fun to take a self-guided tour of the shop to see what else we carry!
A New Way to Look at Gauge!
We all know that in order to make a finished project the size that we expect, we need to match the pattern gauge, right? We know that, even if we don’t always do a gauge swatch!
Not To Be Missed!
Shibui Knits has done it again! They have a brand new yarn for us to love! This time it’s a cuddly bulky weight that will knit up so fast! It’s a blend of 70% Super Baby Alpaca and 30% Merino.
Two Exceptional Events!
My Sister Knits has two extra special events coming up!
On Tuesday, September 6th, our beloved Sandy Barnes from Shibui will be at the shop from 4pm - 6pm! Sandy is a treasure and we know you’ll love her if you haven’t met her yet!
This and That
My Sister Knits has been on the waiting list to stock Hide and Hammer bags from England for quite some time. After patiently waiting for what seems like forever, we finally have these lovelies on our shelves!
A Melanie Berg Inspired Yarn!
In June, Julie and Diana ventured to a trade fair for textile handicrafts in Chicago. Expectations and excitement ran high for this special fair because it usually only takes place in Cologne, Germany! It is eagerly looked forward to by Europeans and Americans could only dream about going.
Pretty Poppy Poncho
The Poppy Poncho, currently on display, is ideal for late-summer knitting. It has a soothing six-row pattern that repeats throughout the poncho. Fingering weight yarn is used, making it a lightweight project. By the time it’s finished, the weather should be perfect for it! There are many excellent summer knitting projects and this is one of them!
All Sorts of Fun!
We’ve been eagerly awaiting this shipment! This unique, non-superwash yarn is spun at Harrisville Designs in New Hampshire and hand-dyed in Baltimore.
Fun and Functional Della Q Products!
Della Q has been creating high-quality accessories for years! As the brand continues to grow and evolve, there is always something new to ooh and aah over!
We just unpacked our latest shipment and you can now find Della Q treasures throughout My Sister Knits!
