Caitlin Hunter's Latest!
My Sister Knits is super lucky to have a sample of Caitlin Hunter’s latest pattern in the shop! As of this writing, the pattern is due to be published this week and you can see this stunning sweater on display now!
Halu has the same neckline as Caitlin’s Easy V sweater. The unique wide, deep V-neck is flattering to everyone who wears it! While Easy V has a colorwork yoke, Halu has a lacy yoke with bobbles, which are a fun fashion trend this fall.
This sweater is knit seamlessly, top down. Since it calls for worsted weight yarn, it should be a fairly quick knit depending on how much time you have to commit to it!
Our sample is knit with worsted weight Woolfolk Far. Whenever I pick up a skein of Far, it feels as light as dandelion fluff and as if it might float right out of my hand! It is an exquisitely soft and lustrous fiber that comes to us from Patagonia.
Far is created with Ultimate Merino which has a micron count of 17.5, just a tad more than most cashmere. Microns are the measurement used to describe the diameter of a fiber. The lower the micron count, the finer and softer the fiber. Clara Parks writes in The Knitters Book of Wool that a study from Australia indicates that comfortable, next-to-skin wear has a micron count of 21 or less.
Ultimate Merino has the hand of cashmere and the wear of merino. Far has a chainette construction that contributes to its lightness and allows for a delightful, luxurious knitting experience! It also gives structure and body to the Ultimate Merino fibers.
The sheep farmers use innovative efforts to produce this wool while being stewards of the Patagonia Grasslands. They are trained in regenerating degraded grasslands and protecting biodiversity. This way, the land of Patagonia can sustain people, their businesses, and communities.
We invite you to take our sample of Halu off its hanger and get a good feel of Far knit up! Then we invite you over to our selection of Far colorways! We have many more than what is pictured here. We have more samples knit with Woolfolk yarns, just ask to see them!
Happy knitting,
