This and That
Happy New Year everyone! Instead of waxing poetic about our knitting at the end of one year and the beginning of the next, we’re going to dig right into some pertinent information!
Local Yarn Store Day Coming Soon!
My Sister Knits is one of the multitudes of yarn shops celebrating Local Yarn Store Day on Saturday, April 27th! This international day of celebration was created by The National Needlearts Association (TNNA) in 2018 to bring awareness to the advantages of having a local yarn store close
April Classes and a Clara Parkes Book!
A few weeks ago I wrote about giving your brain a break with a kit. Today, we’re going to focus on classes and making your brain work by learning something new!
We have a variety of classes in April to choose from:
This and That
My Sister Knits has a new hat that we’ve fallen in love with! It’s a good job that we have an infinite number of hats that we are allowed to love! Each new sample that comes in seems to fit in that category!
Our new favorite is the Cozy Bliss Hat designed by Pam Sapienza. Published only a few weeks ago in December, this unique hat is destined to become a fun, popular knit!
Class Etiquette or How to be a Most Excellent Student!
Have you been thinking about taking a class at My Sister Knits? Are you possibly a little hesitant because you’re just not sure if it’s the right class for your skill set? We can help with that!!
We are happy to answer all of your questions and offer suggestions. Once you’ve decided to sign up for a class, there are several things you can do to set yourself up for success.
Jolly Holiday Classes!
My Sister Knits has some more holiday fun for you! We have a few classes that might tempt you in November and December.
Socktober Sock Drive!
My Sister Knits is participating in the international month-long sock drive effort that is Socktober. Last year we collected 300 pairs of new, store-bought socks; we want to exceed that amount this year!
On Shawls and Socks
Last week we featured the shawl Tiny Tassels. This week we’re bringing your attention to two more shawls that are airy and loosely knit, just the thing you need for summer! Whether you’re vacationing in a cooler climate or enjoying a meal in an air-conditioned restaurant, it’s always good to have a shawl tucked away in a handy place.
Take a Class!
What would you like to learn to enhance your knitting skills? My Sister Knits has a variety of classes available! These are fun because you meet like-minded people who want to learn along with you!
Techno, Extra, and Woolstok, Oh My!
My Sister Knits has just received a shipment from Blue Sky Fibers! If you happened to be in the shop on Tuesday you most likely saw our new yarn spread out everywhere! All of the gorgeous colors were on display!
New Yarn Just In!
We have three new yarns for your knitting pleasure! Emma’s Yarn, and two bulky yarns from Woolfolk, Flette and Luft.
January Sweater Class!
You can start 2022 by knitting a Kordy sweater! This sweater is from the Moon and Turtle book that is so popular. ‘Moon and turtle’ is a Japanese saying similar to ‘chalk and cheese’, meaning that even though two things look similar in some way, they are in fact completely different. Each design in this collection offers variations that create a different version of the original pattern!
Shibui/Camp Color Trunk Show!
We would like to bring your attention to our Shibui/Camp Color trunk show! Camp Color is Shibui’s sister company with entirely different colors.
Join Us!
Our November classes are an enjoyable way to expand your knitting skills and meet new friends! We have an array of classes for your benefit. Don’t worry if the class might be beyond your current skills. There’s only one way to find out! If it’s something that you dearly want to do, take the class!
Bags Aplenty!
Bags! As we gather our belongings to venture out into the world more, we might notice that we’d like to update a few items. My Sister Knits has a unique selection of bags of many sizes to brighten things up and fill various needs.
Colorwork to Lift Your Spirits!
A cheerful colorwork project lifts our spirits and we think everyone could use some of that during these crazy times! It seems as if all of us at My Sister Knits has a project with more than one color in it on the needles right now.
Oaken Shawl
My Sister Knits has a beautiful big cozy shawl on display! It’s the Oaken shawl, designed by Tin Can Knits. The founders of Tin Can Knits, Emily and Alexa, can always be depended on to write clear, concise, easy to follow patterns.
