This and That
My Sister Knits has a new hat that we’ve fallen in love with! It’s a good job that we have an infinite number of hats that we are allowed to love! Each new sample that comes in seems to fit in that category!
Our new favorite is the Cozy Bliss Hat designed by Pam Sapienza. Published only a few weeks ago in December, this unique hat is destined to become a fun, popular knit!
Makers’ remarks on the Ravelry project page are that it is a well written pattern with clear instructions and the videos for sewing the brim and the Central Double decrease (CDD) are quite helpful.
This hat is a straightforward knit using Woolfolk Flette Bulky for the brim and Woolfolk Tov for the body. Our sample was modified by using Flette DK held double and Woolfolk Far held double.
Ours is made with one color but we’re eager to see some hats with two colors!
The ChiaoGoo Forte 2.0 Special Edition interchangeable needle set is the crème de la crème of interchangeable sets! There are 14 pairs of tips from size 2 to size 15! The tips for size 2 to 8 are made of stainless steel and carbon fiber. The tips for size 9 through 15 are made of stainless steel and exotic African blackwood which is a little denser and harder than ebony.
Two types of cords are included with this set: the red ones that we adore because they never kink and silver ones that swivel! They don’t kink, either! In all, there are three red cables and six silver cables to create 24”, 32”, and 40” circular needles.
In addition, there are accessories galore and a sturdy case to hold everything securely!
These sets are available for pre-order and should arrive by mid-January. If you’ve thought about getting a set of interchangeable needles, this is one you should seriously consider. Rarely can you find a set of size 2 through size 15 needles together with cords as great as ChiaoGoo makes!
Wednesday Skill Sessions
Each Wednesday, from noon until 1pm, we offer a free skill session. These are fun, informative, classes that focus on a particular skill.
For instance, we’re focusing on gauge in January with three different gauge topics and you can also learn or refresh your knowledge on how to pick up stitches. In February our topics are contrast colors, pattern reading, jogless color joins for stripes, and decreases. You can find information on our website under Classes.
It helps us to know how many people are coming, so please either register online or call the shop at 970.407.1461.
One last thing, we are collecting yarn, needles, and crochet hooks to use in teaching knitting at the Larimer County Jail. Many of the inmates are eager to knit and they need supplies! If you have anything to donate, bring it to the shop and Julie will deliver it.
Happy knitting,
