Besides Yarn.......
My Sister Knits carries beautiful yarn; that goes without saying. However, it’s fun to take a self-guided tour of the shop to see what else we carry!
A New Way to Look at Gauge!
We all know that in order to make a finished project the size that we expect, we need to match the pattern gauge, right? We know that, even if we don’t always do a gauge swatch!
Not To Be Missed!
Shibui Knits has done it again! They have a brand new yarn for us to love! This time it’s a cuddly bulky weight that will knit up so fast! It’s a blend of 70% Super Baby Alpaca and 30% Merino.
Two Exceptional Events!
My Sister Knits has two extra special events coming up!
On Tuesday, September 6th, our beloved Sandy Barnes from Shibui will be at the shop from 4pm - 6pm! Sandy is a treasure and we know you’ll love her if you haven’t met her yet!
This and That
My Sister Knits has been on the waiting list to stock Hide and Hammer bags from England for quite some time. After patiently waiting for what seems like forever, we finally have these lovelies on our shelves!
A Melanie Berg Inspired Yarn!
In June, Julie and Diana ventured to a trade fair for textile handicrafts in Chicago. Expectations and excitement ran high for this special fair because it usually only takes place in Cologne, Germany! It is eagerly looked forward to by Europeans and Americans could only dream about going.
Pretty Poppy Poncho
The Poppy Poncho, currently on display, is ideal for late-summer knitting. It has a soothing six-row pattern that repeats throughout the poncho. Fingering weight yarn is used, making it a lightweight project. By the time it’s finished, the weather should be perfect for it! There are many excellent summer knitting projects and this is one of them!
All Sorts of Fun!
We’ve been eagerly awaiting this shipment! This unique, non-superwash yarn is spun at Harrisville Designs in New Hampshire and hand-dyed in Baltimore.
Fun and Functional Della Q Products!
Della Q has been creating high-quality accessories for years! As the brand continues to grow and evolve, there is always something new to ooh and aah over!
We just unpacked our latest shipment and you can now find Della Q treasures throughout My Sister Knits!
Hats Are For Summer!
It’s summer. It’s hot. I think I can speak for most knitters when I say the last thing we want is a heaping pile of a knitting project on our laps! However, we want to keep on knitting. A solution to that is making hats!
Scrumptious Yarn from Mighty Sheep
Today we have a story for you that travels the world! From the highlands of Peru and Argentina to Oregon to England and back to My Sister Knits. Enter Walcot Yarns Origin, a squishable, bouncy, worsted weight yarn.
Are You Using the Perfect Needles
When starting a new project, how much do you consider your needles? Our needles are important tools that deserve some thought.
Color-Choosing Tips for Colorwork
Colorwork! Oh, the fun! There are an array of techniques that use different colors in one project: blocks of color, stripes, mosaic, stranded, intarsia, entrelac. All of these will give your project visual interest and it’s so pleasing to watch the design unfold!

What the Heck is a Hank?
The definition of jargon according to Google is: “special words or expressions that are used by a particular profession or groups and are difficult for others to understand.”
Knitting most definitely has its own jargon and we are here to help you be ‘in the know’!
Peace Fleece

On Shawls and Socks
Last week we featured the shawl Tiny Tassels. This week we’re bringing your attention to two more shawls that are airy and loosely knit, just the thing you need for summer! Whether you’re vacationing in a cooler climate or enjoying a meal in an air-conditioned restaurant, it’s always good to have a shawl tucked away in a handy place.

My Sister Knits has a new sample for you to enjoy! Just in this week, a darling shawlette called Tiny Tassels is gracing the shop. Last seen on the wall by the community table, who knows where it will travel to in the shop?
