My Sister Knits' "New Wall"
Did you know that we have a “New Wall” where we showcase yarns that are new to the shop? If you turn to your left when you come in, it will be straight in front of you!
Among the new yarns we are featuring is Coast to Coast Yarn Company. Erin, the founder of the company, grew up in the Pacific Northwest, lived in Maine for a few years, and now lives in Kansas. She feels as if her heart is stretched from Coast to Coast!
We are elated to carry her yarn, as it is only in four yarn shops in the US, plus one in Japan! We have two bases, her Classic Sock and Natural Worsted.
Classic Sock is a blend of 80% superwash Merino and 20% Nylon.
Erin’s Natural Worsted is 100% Merino and is non-superwash. Her artistic talent shines with this yarn!
We also have Walcot Yarns' new worsted weight, Origin. Walcot Yarns is the creation of Carmen Schmidt who owns A Yarn Story in Bath, England. She wanted to create yarn that was carefully sourced, luxurious, and wearable. Carmen’s yarns Opus and Origin are sold worldwide but only at a handful of shops in the US.
We already carry Opus, a sport weight blend of 70% Argentinian Merino and 30% Baby Alpaca. We love the way the feel of Opus reminds us of cashmere. We love it so much that we decided to add Origin to the shop! Carmen refers to Origin as ‘earthy, wholesome, and 100% free-spirited’. It is a blend of 50% Argentinian Merino and 50% Peruvian Highland Wool.
As with Opus, the colors are deeply saturated and absolutely gorgeous!
We also have Borstet Alpakka (Brushed Alpaca) from Sandness Garn, a Norwegian yarn company founded in 1888. Sandness Garn is the largest producer of hand knitting yarn in Northern Europe. The alpaca comes from Peru and is spun with nylon which holds everything together when it’s brushed. We have an abundance of colorways, from delicate pastels to bold and bright!
Adding a strand of this airy fluff to any project will add warmth and a little fuzzy texture!
When you investigate our New Wall, you’ll notice that a few other yarns are there also! We encourage you to take a look at this wall every time you come in because you’ll want to be aware of our newest yarns as soon as they arrive!
