It’s Yarn Crawl Time!

The annual Hot August Knits yarn crawl starts Saturday, July 27 and goes through Saturday, August 10th. That gives you two full weekends, one Saturday, and the two weeks in between to see all of the shops!

There are seven shops participating, the same shops as last year. This yarn crawl is so much fun either on your own or with a group of friends! You get to see shops up and down the front range and possibly find a new coffee shop and /or restaurant to enjoy. Sometimes you see the same people at multiple shops and everyone has a great time!

When you’re planning your route, you might want to take note of the shops that are open on Sundays:

  • Cowgirl Yarn will be open July 28th from noon - 4

  • Fingerplay Studio will be open August 4th from 10 - 5

  • Longmont Yarn Shoppe has regular Sunday hours from 12 - 4

  • Maverick Fiber Arts has regular Sunday hours from 12 - 5

  • Peak to Peak has regular Sunday hours from 1 - 5

And the ones that are open on Mondays:

  • Cowgirl Yarn is open from 11 - 5

  • Fingerplay Studio is open from 11 - 5

  • Maverick Fiber Arts is open from 10 - 6

Each shop has its own mini skein colorway that comes with a special stitch marker created for the yarn crawl. You can collect the whole set, getting one at each shop. My Sister Knits has some samples made to spark your imagination of what to do with these! Socks? A small shawl? Look for the samples at each shop!

Also, each shop will have a gift basket for someone to win! The goodies in this year’s baskets are amazing! Companies have been quite generous in what they’re donating and we’ve had some people working hard behind the scenes to ensure these baskets are the best yet!

Here’s how you can win a basket: visit each shop and have your passport ‘stamped’. When you have stamps from all seven shops you will be automatically entered to win a gift basket. Each shop also offers a chance to win a $50 gift certificate when you ‘stamp’ your passport at that shop.

Now, about the passports. Each shop will have a poster with a QR code on it. Scanning this will take you to an entry form which counts as your digital passport ‘stamp’ when it’s filled out. Shops will help those who don’t want to or can’t scan. You’ll want to remember to scan the QR code at each shop!

My Sister Knits is hosting two trunk shows during this time. We will have yarn from ZeeZee Textiles and Sweet Tea Yarns, both small companies run by one person. These unique yarns will be available to purchase while supplies last! Other shops will have their own special events; be sure to look for them.

We encourage you to check out the Hot August Knits website for maps, FAQs, and information about each shop. Have fun crawling!

Happy knitting,
