May Classes

Would you like to learn something new? Here are our May class offerings:

Saturdays, May 3rd and 5th from 9 - 10:30am with Elizabeth: Learn to Knit

In this introductory class, you’ll learn how to cast on and bind off, how to work the knit and purl stitches, how to read your stitches, and how to create simple stitch patterns.

This photo shows the back of the June Top. The detail of the neck being lower than the front is so stylish!

Saturdays, May 3rd, 17th, and 24th from 1 - 2pm with Elizabeth: June Top

This summery tank top is a design by Petite Knit. It’s worked in the round, bottom up and then separated for the straps. It’s finished with a professional looking iCord edge. Although it shouldn’t be your first project, this is suitable for an enthusiastic advanced beginner!

Tuesdays, May 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th from noon - 1pm or 2 - 3 pm with Jenny W: Knitting Bag of Tricks Workbook

This month we’ll finish our 5 month long journey through Patty Lyons’ Official Knitting Bag of Tricks Workbook. Anyone can jump in and join us as we work through the last Lesson and its exercises. This is for advanced beginners through experienced knitters.

Wednesdays, May 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th from noon - 1pm with various teachers: Wednesday Skill Sessions

The skills taught are in this order: Tubular Cast On, Travel Tool Bag, Two Color Decreases, and 2x2 rib Tubular Cast On. All skill levels are welcome to our Wednesday Skill Sessions!

Thursday, May 8th from 5:30 - 7:30 with Erika: MSK Sock Series

Learn to make the Fleegle Heel this month! This heel features a gusset and heel turn with no picking up stitches and no holes! Previous sock knitting experience is a requirement.

Saturdays, May 10th, 17th, and 24th from 11am - 1pm with Erika: Learn to Knit Shortie Socks

You’ll come away from this class knowing so much after knitting your first socks! You have the option to use DK weight yarn or fingering weight. You’ll learn the German Twisted Cast On (also known as the Old Norwegian Cast On), ssk, k2tog, how to pick up stitches, and how to graft (formerly known as the Kitchener stitch technique) as well as much more that is required in knitting a sock! Students need to know how to knit and purl; knowing how to knit in the round using the Magic Loop technique is helpful.

Tuesdays, May 13th and 20th from 5:30 - 7:30pm with Karen: Sisterhood Cowl

This pretty cowl, designed by Briana Arlene, uses the mosaic colorwork technique. Only one color is used in a row and there are no floats like in stranded colorwork. The cowl is worked flat; besides learning mosaic colorwork, you’ll seam it with the magical mattress stitch, and make an iCord edge and bind off. This class is appropriate for advanced beginners and above.

Saturday, May 24th from 3 - 4:30pm with Erika: Learn to Fix Mistakes

This is an essential class for newer knitters! Your knitting skills will grow by leaps and bounds and you’ll have so much more confidence! This class is for beginners who know how to knit and purl.

You can register for any of these classes online, in person, or by calling the shop at 970.407.1461.

If there is a class that you’d like to see us offer, please let us know!

Also, Tuesday Knit Nights will start up again on Tuesday, May 6th! Come knit with us from 5 - 8pm on Tuesdays!

Happy knitting,
