Oh My Goodness!

It’s like Christmas this week at My Sister Knits! There are so many new things arriving every day! Grab yourself a nice cup of your favorite beverage and settle in to find out all about our newest goodies!

Viking Nornir and our new dark cherry Re:Designed bag color

We have a new yarn that makes my heart sing, a blend of Oregon Merino and Corriedale and Romney from New York. It’s a DK weight called Nornir from Viking Fiber Company just down the road. This yarn is grown and produced entirely in the US. It’s processed at Battenkill Fibers in New York and dyed by hand in Colorado. This is truly a special yarn.

Coming from Rosa Pomar in Portugal is a restock of Mondim and Matiz and we’re getting a new yarn, Pegulhal. This is a fingering weight wooly yarn that is great for colorwork. Pegulhal is a blend of Campanica and Black Merino sheep and the word Pegulhal is an old Portuguese word that means ‘flock’. The label is a mythical blended creature that reflects the use of more than one breed’s wool in the yarn. We’re always fascinated to learn about Rosa’s labels! We’re also getting a few ready made sweaters. If you’re preparing to steek a project, we’re getting fun ribbons to use on the inside of your steeked edge!

We have a couple of these sweaters coming, some like this and some with the colors reversed. Come in and try them on!

Even if you don’t need any buttons at the moment, you’re going to be enchanted with our new buttons from Haulin’ Hoof, a small family business in southeastern Ohio. Their wood buttons are made from downed trees on their land. Their ceramic ones are hand made “by the girls on the farm”. Each button has a personalized, artistic touch!

We’re getting more notions from Mabel and Jess - stitch markers, the cutest needle stoppers that don’t come off your needles, and even a necklace that holds your stitch markers! Their goal is to make knitting accessories beautiful enough to wear as jewelry. We’re also getting ball caps that say “I’d rather be knitting”!

Island Vest, made with Aran weight Hip Wool by HipKnitShop

HipKnitShop is sending some shop samples, kits, and of course yarn. Cuddle Me Cotton is a DK weight Pima cotton. Pima cotton is named to honor the Pima Native American tribe of Arizona who were an integral part of  USDA research projects on this cotton. Pima cotton has a long staple length that results in a much softer material that is both stronger and longer lasting than regular cotton. The fibers are silky and lustrous and hold the color longer than regular cotton. We’re looking forward to knitting summer tops with Cuddle Me Cotton!

The kits from HipKnitShop include hats, mittens, a scarf, sweaters, and a vest. We’re also restocking Super Bulky Fluff and Aran weight Hip Wool.

We have lightweight wristlets from Re:Designed!

As you can tell, My Sister Knits is brimming with new items! We can’t wait to show them off to you so come on in!

Happy knitting,
