Local Yarn Store Day April 25th!

Every year the last Saturday of April is international Local Yarn Store Day. It’s a day dedicated to the wonderful small businesses that pour their heart and soul into their love of fiber arts. Every yarn store is different, each reflects the personality of its owner and has different ways of celebrating this love and supporting their customers.

Most Local Yarn Shops (LYS for short) have classes and community get-togethers. My Sister Knits hosts Tuesday Knit and Crochet Nights from late afternoon until 8pm every week and Knitting Day (crocheters are welcome also!) from 10 - 2 once a month, most often on the 4th Friday of the month. In addition, anyone is welcome to come to the shop and work on a project at any time, as long as we’re open!

This Sophie is made with a heavier weight yarn for cold weather wearing!

This year, Local Yarn Store Day is April 25th. We’ll have special offerings for our customers including a free Sophie Scarf pattern and 15% off the yarn for it for the first 30 people! If you’ve made a Sophie, designed by PetiteKnit, you know how irresistible they can be. You just have to make one more! There are over 50,000 projects posted on Ravelry! The pattern is written for DK weight but they can be made with any weight; they’ll either be smaller or larger, depending on what you want. Fingering weight Sophies will be just what you might need in air conditioning during the summer! Check out our display of the many looks of a Sophie Scarf!
