Thoughts of Spring
With the warmer sunny days this week, those of us at My Sister Knits are turning our thoughts toward spring and the colors that spring brings!
Which colors would you like to put together?
There’s a scarf on display that represents how we feel! It’s light and airy and made with pretty pastels that embody springtime. Our Milkshake Scarf, designed by Veera Valimaki, is made with CaMaRose Midnatssol and is light as down!
Veera has given us a design that can be made in a variety of ways. It’s a boomerang shape in garter stitch and can be wide or narrow in three lengths. This scarf is shown using three colors but you could use only one if you prefer.

There is some extremely simple intarsia involved. You just need to make one color change per row. The pattern suggests this video for more information. Edie explains and shows how to make a nice looking color change just past four minutes in.She does a super job! I had a bad experience with intarsia 9 years ago that put me off but even I would agree to doing only one color change per row!
Emma Ball tape measures; be sure to look at both sides as they are different!
We have so many beautiful colors of Midnatssol, meaning midnight sun, to choose from! Milkshake Scarf is knit with size 4 needles to make a lovely loose fabric, full of drape. One word of warning, don’t be put off by the looks of this scarf before it’s blocked. This is one project where blocking is kind of miraculous!
Della Q Oh Snap Sacks
My Sister Knits has more goodies to make spring knitting even more fun! Emma Ball is a watercolor artist from Nottingham, England. We are lucky enough to have some of her tape measures and zippered pouches. These are gorgeous and bring a smile to your face so be sure to check them out! Be sure to look at both sides of the tape measures!
We also have some brightly colored Della Q Oh Snap Sacks to house your spring knitting projects. Della Q makes the coolest bags! These have several pockets, you can see your project through them, and there’s even a handle for your wrist. We have all four colors that they come in.

You can get yarn for your scarf, add a most beautiful tape measure and little notions bag, and put it all in a new, cheerfully colored project bag! Just the thing to bring us out of the winter doldrums!
Save the Date
This is really special! We have an opportunity to learn about a distinctive Quebec tradition, ceinture flechee or ‘arrow sash’ on Saturday, March 22nd at 3pm! We’ll learn about the history of this traditional belt and its cultural significance. We’ll also see a demonstration of finger weaving techniques, showcasing the skill and artistry involved. Our honored guest is Felix L’Heureux Bilodeau, a flecherant (arrow) and fingerweaving teacher from Quebec. Felix is only in Fort Collins for a short period of time and My Sister Knits is so pleased to offer this chance to learn from him!
We hope to see you in the shop soon!
Happy knitting,
