Must Stash Yarn, Just for the Fun of it!

It’s almost Halloween, holiday season has arrived, and in no time we’ll be seeing red and green everywhere; decorations, clothing, lights twinkling on houses. I’ve decided to embrace the holidays this year with fun and imperfection. My Halloween decorations will most likely stay up until Thanksgiving and then I’ll go straight to Christmas. I have apple cider in the fridge ready to make into hot spiced cider when the weather cools enough! One thing you can do if you want to get into the spirit of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and whatever you celebrate in December, is come to the shop! You might hear our Halloween instrumental music playing and you’ll definitely see decorations from witches  to stockings!

bottom left to right: Skellington, Candy Corn, Monster Mash

To help you flow from one celebration to another, we have some fun holiday-inspired yarn at My Sister Knits! Specifically, Must Stash Yarn in Halloween and December colorways!

The unique thing about our Must Stash Yarn is their skeins come in two halves so you can make perfectly matched socks. Or hats! Or mittens! Each full skein consists of two perfectly matched half skeins that start and stop in the same place of the striping sequence.

Top from left to right: Fruitcake, Tis the Season, Nutcracker

Bottom from left to right: A Very Hobbit Christmas, Tangled Lights, Elf’d

To wind them, separate the two halves and wind them one at a time. Remember what color you started with for the first half and wind the second one in the exact same way. Ta Da! You can now make matching items!

There are so many different colorways that it’s hard to choose! And are you going to choose by the colors in the skein or the names?

These use the Calveras colorway for Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

One way to find out what other people have done with Must Stash Perfect Must Match (the full name) is to go to the Ravelry page for Perfect Must Match yarn and click on either Pattern Ideas or Projects. Yes, there are lots and lots of socks but there are more ideas for those of us who aren’t sock knitters. Maybe you want a fun hat; there are classics such as Sockhead Slouch Hat, Musselburgh, Oslo, and baby hats. Or a cowl. If you’re making a sweater, you could use this for the sleeves or a yoke. Here are two free patterns for fingerless mitts and a cowl designed with this yarn. Shawl knitters, there’s a pattern that features this yarn as a border. The possibilities abound!

Come into the shop to select the perfect colorway to add some fun to your holidays!

Another thing you can do is contribute to our annual Sock Drive. Unfortunately, we are far from our goal of being able to give 1,000 pairs of socks to the FoCo Cafe so we need to get the word out! This blog post goes into detail about the need for socks for our unhoused population. Our customers are generous and we count on you to help with this need! You just need to remember to buy some socks when you’re out and about so put it on your list! When you bring in your socks, fill out a ticket with your name and phone number for a chance to win an absolutely beautiful wrap made out of Ito Sensai, a lace weight blend of 60% Mohair and 40% Silk, a $200 value. Just a little added incentive!

See you in the shop!

Happy knitting,
