We’re Ready, Are You?
Small projects are on our needles at My Sister Knits, lots and lots of small projects! Gift making season is upon us and we are ready!
The Colorado Beanie
Knitting the U.S.A. by designer Nancy Bates is a brand new book, published just a few weeks ago! There are 50 beanies that represent all 50 states. The designs are varied and illustrate what’s special about each state. What a meaningful gift a hat from this book would be!
Our sample is The Colorado Beanie made with Woolfolk DK weight Brise and features elk, evergreen trees, groves of aspen, and of course snow topped mountains. You can get two hats out of the two skeins that you’ll need for the colorwork in this pattern. Score! There are already 22 projects posted on Ravelry and people are saying they love the pattern and that it’s a quick knit.
Chilton Cowl
We also have a colorful Chilton Cowl, designed by Bobbi IntVeld for Blue Sky Fibers. If you’ve always wanted a bundle of Woolstok worsted mini skeins but hesitated because you didn’t know what you’d knit with them, here is your solution! This is such a cheerful cowl, ready to brighten the winter days that will come sooner than we’re ready for them! If you consider yourself an advanced beginner or beyond, this project is for you!
Woolstok is a great yarn! It’s bouncy and springs back into shape if it’s stretched. It shows off cables and textured stitches and is made from 100% Fine Highland Wool from South America.
Round Top Bandana
The Round Top Bandana, designed by Martha Wissing, is another possible gift idea, especially if you make the small size. An easy slip stitch pattern creates the intricate design; to make it trouble-free to knit, the pattern stitch is written row by row. This delightful little scarf can be made with a variety of yarn weights. The pattern calls for DK weight but we’ve made it using fingering weight and, if you want a big one, try it with worsted! We can help you figure out how much yarn to buy if you want a worsted weight version.
We have oodles of small project ideas and samples for you so come in to the shop and get your gift knitting on the needles!
Happy knitting,
