Trunk Shows Are Coming!
My Sister Knits has two upcoming trunk shows that we want you to know about! Both of these independent dyers are from Colorado which makes the trunk shows even more special as we love to support local artists.
Six and Seven Fiber
The first one is upon us - Saturday, October 18th from 10 - 5 we’ll host Rachel from Six and Seven Fiber. Since we started carrying Rachel’s yarn, she has expanded her bases to include some non-superwash yarn. A ‘base’ is the yarn before it’s dyed. It could be 100% Merino, a blend of Merino/nylon, others could have some cashmere or other luxurious fiber added to the Merino, that sort of thing. Indie dyers love to use superwash yarn for their colors because it takes the color so well. We like that they’re able to branch out to include some non-superwash yarn and we expect those colors to be softer, more muted. The process used to dye non-superwash yarn is more complicated and time consuming and we appreciate the effort that goes into it.
Rocky Mountain Targhee is a unique yarn created by Rachel. It’s a worsted weight that is grown and processed entirely in the Rocky Mountain region; we hope to see some in the trunk show!
Rachel will bring a good selection of her yarns from her mohair/silk blend lace weight to fingering, DK, and worsted weight! We can’t wait to see it!
We also have a book for you to check out, Trails and Valleys Knitwear for Family Adventures, by designer Lindsey Fowler. Lindsey and Rachel are friends and Lindsey accompanied Rachel on a visit to My Sister Knits when her first book, Salt and Timber, Knits from the Northern Coast, was published. The patterns in this book can all be knit with Six and Seven Fiber yarn!

Our next trunk show will be the 15th of November and will showcase yarns dyed by Sarah of Little Squirrel Yarn. Little Squirrel is just down the road in Loveland! Like Rachel, Sarah is an artist. The tonal and semi-solid colorways she creates are exquisite! Little Squirrel has four bases: Oak sock is 75% Superwash Merino/25% recycled Nylon; Walnut DK is 100% Merino; Pecan Single Ply is organic, non-superwash Merino fingering; and Beech Lace is a lace weight blend of Suri Alpaca and Mulberry Silk.
We expect to see some sock sets and individual mini skeins with this trunk show! The mini skeins are 20grams and approximately 87 yards.
Which fun color will be yours?
As you’re beginning to possibly think about holiday gift giving or maybe just the darker evenings ahead, we have new colors of Lumos knitting lights! You don’t have to stick with plain old black or white, you can branch out to fun colors! It’s the little things in life that bring us joy! These lights are fantastic in low light situations. You can adjust the color temperature and the brightness. They are super lightweight and flexible so you can aim the light exactly where you want it. In short, they’re an indispensable part of your knitting tool kit.
We hope to see you Saturday Oct. 18th for the Six and Seven Fiber trunk show and then again on Nov. 15th for the Little Squirrel Yarn trunk show! And, of course, any time in between! Come to sit and knit at our community table when you have some spare time or come to the next Knitting Day on Friday, October 24th from 10 - 2. Either of those is a gift to yourself of uninterrupted knitting time along with probably some good conversation and merriment!
Happy knitting,
