Simply Stunning Stromboli

My Sister Knits has a new display sample you’re going to want to see! This is a brand new, hot off the presses design from Caitlin Hunter, also known as Boyland Knitworks. Published in July, this pattern already has 157 projects listed on Ravelry!

Stromboli, designed by Caitlin Hunter

Stromboli has a cropped length and a loose fit intended to be worn with 7 - 15” of positive ease at the chest. The tee looks much more complicated to make than it is! I was a little intimidated until I carefully read through the pattern. This is such a pretty tee with a simple repeating lace design across the center, bordered by a faux cable stitch at the sides. If you happen to be concerned about either of those, read on! They’re much simpler than you might think.

Caitlin gives us two charts to work from and she’s made them user-friendly! They each have the same amount of rows: 8. One chart only has 4 stitches! That’s the Knot Stitch chart which creates a cable-like design. If you’re like me, you’re wondering what the Knot Stitch is. It’s so easy! With your right needle, you lift the 3rd stitch on the left needle over the first two stitches and let it drop off the needle. Then you knit one stitch, do a yarn over and knit another stitch. So that’s taken care of; nothing to worry about!

Our sample is knit with WoolDreamers Saona

Then there’s the Lace chart. The only stitches involved in this part are knits, purls, ssk (slip, slip, knit), k2tog (knit two stitches together), and a yo (yarn over).

As you get to the neckline, there are two more charts, one for the right side and one for the left. Don’t get intimidated! They are basically the same but with the addition of more decreases for shaping.

Knitting for Olive Merino would also be a good choice

This sweater is knit bottom up, worked in the round until you need to separate for the sleeves. Then it’s worked flat up to the neckline where you’ll do a three needle bind off. Then you pick up the sleeve stitches and knit them in the round to your desired length. Stromboli has a dropped sleeve design which makes the sleeves even easier! Caitlin provides us with an excellent, easy to read schematic with all the measurements you might want! To finish it off, you pick up stitches around the neck and work a k1 p1 rib for a few rounds.

This piece would be a stunning wardrobe staple for fall! When you’re choosing yarn, we’d like to encourage you to choose a solid or tonal as those will show off the texture best.

Come into the shop and closely examine our sample. If you’d like to adjust the length of the body, each pattern repeat of rows 1 - 8 of the charts is about an inch.

Happy knitting,
