Welcome CaMaRose!
My Sister Knits just received a shipment of CaMaRose yarn from Denmark! We can’t wait for you to come in and squish it to find out how luscious it is for yourself!
Trine Bertelsen, owner of CaMaRose yarn, has been designing knit and crochet patterns since 2008. She started off with designs for babies and children and has added designs for adults. She named her company after her three children, Carl-Emil, Mathilde, and Anna-Rose. Along the way, she became interested in creating her own yarn. The result is yarn that is animal and environment friendly.
Snefnug, which translates to snowflake, is so light and airy you feel as if you need to hang onto it or it will float right up into the air! It’s a Bulky weight blend of 55% baby alpaca, 35% organic cotton, and 10% extra fine Merino wool. The cotton creates a tube that the alpaca and Merino are blown into. Project made with Snefnug will be especially warm and cozy!
Swatching and washing the swatch are a must because Snefnug might shrink a bit but then recover its size with wear. This popular yarn has over 5100 projects on Ravelry!
Lamatweed is a single ply Aran weight yarn with a rustic tweedy look. This blend of 40% llama, 40% wool, and 20% viscose reflects neutral colors found in nature. Viscose, also known as rayon, is made from natural sources such as wood, bamboo, or soybeans. It is shiny, absorbs moisture, and adds drape.
Trine says that “the spinning of the yarn means that Lamatweed only unfolds completely when it has been knitted and rinsed”. Again, swatching and washing is a must to find out what your fabric will be like!
Midnatssol translates to Midnight Sun. This is a lace weight yarn made with 54% baby alpaca, 10% Merino wool, and 36% lyocell. Lyocell is made from wood pulp, using a closed-loop process that recycles almost all of the chemicals used. Midnatssol adds a beautiful soft fuzziness to any project, the same as mohair; some people find it less itchy and softer than mohair.
We invite you into the shop to experience these yarns firsthand! We have one sweater on display made with Snefnug and will soon have two more!
Happy knitting,
