In Addition to Yarn…….
My Sister Knits has all sorts of goodies besides yarn! Of course we love our yarn but Julie is always finding things to make our lives more joyful.
However, before we start on what’s in the shop, you should know that My Sister Knits had enough write-in votes to qualify for the Best of NOCO 2025 contest for the first time! We’re excited about this! To vote for us, go to vote.nocostyle.com, scroll down to the Retail category and choose the Quilt & Sewing Shop option. Let’s win this!
Look at this beautiful watercolor card which just so happens to go perfectly with the Salty Blonde sock bundle! Pat Schwartz is a gifted local artist and we have a selection of her cards in the shop.
Speaking of Salty Blonde, Ryan will be in the shop all day Saturday and Sunday, July 26th and 27th with her ‘just for My Sister Knits’ colorway along with her other yarns! She’s bringing both superwash and non-superwash and her colors will inspire you to cast on right away! Salty Blonde’s home is just a short drive from us, in Elizabeth, CO. We’re so pleased to feature local yarn to kick off the first weekend of the Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl!
Have you seen our Slap Bracelet Sock Rulers from Twice Sheared Sheep? They aren’t just for socks! How many times have you had to put down your knitting to find your tape measure to figure out either how much more you had to knit or how far you’ve knitted? You can get one of these fun slap bracelets and your measuring device will be on your arm! Genius!
We also have their new Quick Gauge Ruler! You put it on top of your washed and dried gauge swatch and see which grid matches your stitches. I have a swatch drying right now and I’m going to use this for the first time!
Green Owl Farmacy, located in Maryville,Tennessee, makes a wooden beaded row counter that doubles as a fidget tool when you aren’t using it! The white beads sit down in a little indent at each number to keep them from moving. I’ve tried a number of row counters and haven’t settled on one; this one would make keeping track of rows fun! As I’m keeping track of rows, I can measure my progress with my slap bracelet! Several of you have asked for Wraps Per Inch Yarn Gauges and they are on their way.
Field Guide Designs Bandanas and Slap Koozies arrived just in time for the yarn crawl! These are ‘landmark bandanas’ that feature both animals and plants from places such as Glacier National Park, the Grand Canyon, Long’s Peak, Montana’s Bison Range, Yellowstone, and more. Included with each bandana is a list of what is featured in the design. Open them up to get the full impact of these beautiful designs celebrating the American West.
Make us your first stop on the yarn crawl! The My Sister Knits HAK colorway will sell out fast and once they’re gone, they’re gone! You’ll want to pick up one at each shop. Remember that all shops are open every day for these two weeks. Read more about it here.
Happy knitting,
