An Easy Sweater to Spark Your Imagination!
Sometimes the best way to figure out your next project is by finding a display sample that you like. When I look at some patterns, they seem ‘meh’ or not particularly to my liking. Many times I’ll fall in love with a sample, go to the pattern, and find myself thinking that it was really good that I saw the sample first because I’d have dismissed the pattern. It could be that the photograph didn’t grab me or the color of the yarn but I wasn’t interested. Thank goodness for samples!
My Sister Knits has a display sample just like that! The pattern is Cozy Classic Raglan designed by Jessie Maed Designs and there are 2590 projects posted on Ravelry! Sixty-six pages of projects! In June, I wrote about Briana Arlene’s Paintbrush Tank and how impressed I was with her pattern writing. Jessie’s is every bit as good!
Jessie’s instructions are thorough without being overwhelming. She gives us exact information on how to choose a size. If you want waist shaping, she gives two ways to do it. If you want an alternative cast on, there are directions for that. Short sleeves or long balloon sleeves? Instructions are on the last page of the pattern.
So much can be done with this top-down, in the round, seamless pattern!
A selection of some of our fingering weight yarns!
Now, about the yarn. Jessie uses a fingering weight and a mohair held together. Our sample is made with CaMaRose Midnatssol and Spincycle Dyed In The Wool. If you’d rather use only one yarn, she suggests a DK weight using the yardage for the fingering weight.
We have several mohair or alpaca yarns!
Would you like to create a fade? This can be done in two ways: if you’re using two yarns, you could use one as the main color throughout and use different colors of the other to create the fade. If you’re using DK, you’d merely use different colors. If you want a truly unique effect, you could use different DK yarns. The possibilities are endless! Of course Jessie gives us exact directions on how to do this, from choosing yarn colors to how many rows to work to create the fade on page 3 of the pattern.
Also included are ideas for mohair and fingering color combinations. Plus, there is a list of video tutorials at the bottom of the pattern page on Ravelry!

Author Marty Rubin says, “A blank canvas is a playground for the imagination.” A perfect description of this sweater!
We’ll be happy to help you choose yarns for this! Alternatively, you can wander the store to your heart’s delight, taking in all of the possibilities until you’re totally overwhelmed and can’t make a choice to save your life! That’s when someone will jump at the chance to rescue you! Just call out and we’ll come running!
Reminders:

Salty Blonde has extended their trunk show to both weekend days the first weekend of the crawl. Ryan is busy dyeing yarn in a colorway created just for us just during the yarn crawl! In addition, I hear there will be sock sets for you sock knitters!
