Love It bags from Amsterdam!
Love It bags have arrived at My Sister Knits from Amsterdam! We are one of only four shops in the world to carry them. The others are Stephen and Penelope in Amsterdam, Zauberwiese in Denmark, and Do Ewe Knit in New Jersey. You know you’re getting something out of the ordinary when you purchase one of these!
Love It bags are made with raw, untreated canvas that stands up by itself. There is purposefully no lining in these bags. Ingrid and Julia know that items get lost in the folds of the lining and it adds a surprising amount of weight. The bright, bold colors and simple designs silkscreened onto these bags bring a smile to your face!
Their new silkscreens were made by a company that trains and employs women who have emigrated to Amsterdam from all over the world and who face employment challenges. This company gives women knowledge and confidence to be successful with their new lives.
If you just happen to be in Amsterdam you can go to their studio, see their silkscreening process first-hand and they’ll even give you a cup of tea! These bags are made by the two-person team of Julia (an ardent knitter) and Ingrid (an ardent painter). Love It was founded by Ingrid. After several previous adventures, she found a way to combine the things she loves: product design, painting, drawing, fabric design, sewing, and styling; now she spends her days joyfully creating project bags!
Julia has been knitting since she was in her teens. She’s always modified patterns to her artistic liking and to fit better. After she started working at Stephen & Penelope she was encouraged to write down her ideas, transform them into patterns, and publish them! Can you imagine a better place for her to land than with Stephen West? If any of you have ever taken a class from him or seen him on youtube, you know how encouraging and supportive he is!
We invite you to come in and see these unique bags for yourself! Why don’t you bring along a project to see how it fits into either the Zipp It or the Pull It bags? You might be pleasantly surprised by how much they hold!
Happy Knitting,
Jenny
