Examine our samples!

This post is an open invitation to examine and try on our samples! My Sister Knits is a hands-on yarn shop.

When you have no idea what to knit next, we are your place for ideas!

Yes, our samples might be nice and neatly folded and beautifully displayed……but……we want you to try them on!

We want you to take shawls off of the wall if that’s where they happen to be.

We want you to dismantle displays if you’d like to closely inspect a tunic that’s under a shawl.

If you can’t reach something you’d like to scrutinize in detail, please ask us to get it down for you; if we put it up there, we can get it down!

Dig into the baskets under the eaves upstairs. Better yet, move the baskets out from under the eaves and explore their contents!

Go through the rack that is also under the eaves! Try on the sweaters, shawls, and cowls that you’ll find there.

Our samples are made with the yarn we carry and we can find you ones made with specific weights. If you’re looking for a worsted weight project, we can direct you. The same goes for anything from lace to bulky!

Would you like a lacy project? We’ve got you covered. Cables? You bet! An easy beginning project? Simple colorwork so you can try your hand at it? A project that’s a little beyond your skills? We have samples to inspire you!

Some projects need to be tried on to see if they’re right for you. For instance, it’s helpful to be able to figure out how to wear a shawl and how it will feel before you make it. We can also guide you with yarn substitution if you like.

Please feel free to play with our samples with abandon the next time you’re in the shop!
