A Collection of Goodies!

Most of you know that My Sister Knits has goodies in the shop that are not yarn! Most, if not all, of them make creating our projects easier or more fun. Let’s take a look at a few of these ways to improve your knitting/crocheting experiences.

Spotted Donkey Candles

We have a new shipment with new fragrances! Right now I’m burning Carriage House and I love it. We have gentle scents such as Vintage Forest, Line Dried, Prairie Sage, Vanilla Orchid, Golden Hour and more. Usually there’s at least one burning in the shop!

These candles come to us from Saint Frances, Kansas. They are soy and, as such, have a lot of benefits. They are longer lasting, cleaner burning, have a larger ‘scent throw’, and produce less soot than other candles. There are more reasons, such as being environmentally friendly but I won’t go on and on!

We invite you to come in and smell all of them!

ChiaoGoo Interchangeable Needle set

Have you ever thought about getting a set of interchangeable needles? They come with a number of needle tips and cords of varying lengths. The needle size and cord length you want will always be at your fingertips! This comes in handy when you want to start a project at 5:30 on a Saturday and the shop won’t be open until Tuesday!

They’re also handy for the times you need to change needle size. Say you’re knitting the ribbing for a hat with size 5s and the designer wants you to go up to a size 7 for the body of the hat. Voila! You just unscrew the size 5 tips and attach the 7s and you’re ready to go!

Rocket2 [squared] on the left, Ewenicorn Turbos on the right

New Addi needles

These aren’t interchangeable but they look very interesting! We have two new Addis: Ewenicorn Turbos and Rocket2 [squared].

Ewenicorn Turbos have pink cords! That alone makes them fun! They have a slick finish with a spiral texture on the needle tip which allows your yarn to slide along easily. The cord is super flexible and has no memory which makes magic loop knitting much more pleasant! People who have used them also say that knitting them is very smooth.

Rocket2 [squared] are square needles. Keep in mind that the edges of the squares are slightly rounded and aren’t sharp! These are ergonomically good for our hands, wrists, and forearms. The texture, according to reviewers, creates even stitches! It follows that you’d get the same even stitches with the Ewenicorns. And, since these are Rockets, they have a sharper, more tapered tip if that’s what you’re looking for.

These are so clever!

Lemon Wood Mini and Not-So-Mini Minders

These come to us from two friends in Tucson, Arizona who make them in their studio. We love these! The wrist strap is so comfortable, soft, and flexible. It’s so easy to knit on the go, standing up or sipping your favorite beverage with a friend. The Minders spin easily as you pull your yarn for the next stitches. We have samples on display in the shop so you can see how they work. You are welcome to try one!
