Classes!

The kids are back in school learning new things and now is the perfect time for us to set a good example and learn something new also! Towards that end, My Sister Knits has a variety of classes to expand your skills.

Our monthly Basic Knitting class meets for two sessions, Saturdays September 9 and 16 from 9 - 10:30. You’ll learn the fundamentals you need to start your first project!

Once you’ve started your first project and realize that you are making some mistakes, as all knitters do, you’ll want to take our monthly Learn to Fix Mistakes class! This is a one session class offered on Saturday, September 9 from 11 - 12:30.

Soon we will be clothing our feet in cozy socks! We have a Basic Sock - DK Weight class that will get you started! Using DK weight yarn is a faster, easier way to make socks than using fingering weight, which is usual. Socks need to be knit with a dense fabric; they last longer and fit better. This class uses size 3 needles which are much easier to learn with than the size 1s that are common with a smaller yarn! This class runs for three sessions, Saturdays September 16, 23, and 30 from 2 - 4.

If making a hat is on your to-learn list, take our Oslo Hat class! Offered as a two-session class on Saturdays September 16 and 30 from 11:30 - 1:30, this pattern is a My Sister Knits favorite. In addition to making a stylish beanie with a large, foldable brim, you’ll add the Provisional Cast On to your skill set! Almost 13,000 Oslo Hat projects have been posted to Ravelry!

If you have some basic crochet skills and would like to learn how to make granny squares, our Crochet Crossbody Bag is just for you! This class is two sessions, Saturdays Sept. 30 and October 7 from 9 - 11. The basic skills needed are chain, single crochet, and double crochet. Think of all the colors you could use!
