Bits and Bobs

Bits and Bobs is an English term used when you want to say that you have an odd selection of things. That is indeed what I have for you today!

Rocky Mountain Rhinebeck

Some of you may have heard of the annual New York  Sheep and Wool Festival held the third weekend in October, fondly known as Rhinebeck, referring to the town where it’s held. ‘Rhinebeck’ is arguably the largest sheep and wool festival of them all and has become a destination for knitters the world over.

This year, fiber enthusiasts up and down the Front Range can participate in our own Rocky Mountain Rhinebeck! From Thursday evening, October 5th through Monday, October 9th, you can have fun traveling up and down I25 to visit yarn shops, needlepoint shops, indie dyers, and alpaca/sheep farm stores. Every shop or studio is within 30 minutes of I25.

Fall on the Front Range

Thursday afternoon there is a meet-up at 5pm. You can get tickets from the website. It will be held at The Grange Food Hall in Greenwood Village. There will be prizes and good fun with others.

It’s more loosely organized than the Hot August Knits yarn crawl. All you do is go and enjoy yourself! Some shops may be offering gift baskets.

Is My Sister Knits putting together a gift basket for some lucky person to win? Are we going to serve apple cider donuts (they are famous at Rhinebeck!)? How about a sale?  Hmmmmm, you’ll just have to come to the shop to find the answers to these burning questions!!

Please check the Rocky Mountain Rhinebeck website for further details as it is updated as needed.

Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Fall Festival bundles

Oh my gosh, these glorious colors will get you in the mood for fall if you aren’t already! They make me think of fall foliage, frost, hot chocolate, and the smell of crispy fall air.

Each mini hank is 12 yards and included in the bundle are 3 mini hanks of 7 different colors. Naturally, Blue Sky Fibers has some complimentary patterns for these. There’s a hat, darling little acorns, and leaves that can be used for a garland or pops of color!

There are a limited number of these so act fast!

Soak

We have a new shipment of Soak products. In addition to wool wash, you’ll find some Eco Wash Bags to protect your precious projects. We love Soak because it’s no-rinse,  gentle on your handmade items, and the scents are luscious!

You can choose from 3oz bottles (travel size) with at least 18 washes or 5ml (one teaspoon) single-use packets. It isn’t too early to start gathering your holiday gifts!

Lumos & Lumos knitting light

We just received a supply of these indispensable neck lights. Diana walks around her house at night wearing one of these! These are softer, more flexible, and lighter weight than any other we’ve tried. Try one, you’ll love it!

Knitting Day

Friday, September 29th from 10 - 4 is our next Knitting Day! This is your chance to have some uninterrupted knitting/crocheting time among like-minded people! Think of it as a gift to yourself for an hour or all day!

Wooldreamers Manchelopis

This month we’re offering 20% off Wooldreamers Manchelopis if you buy it and cast on a project on Knitting Day! Read about it here. This yarn is so different to knit with and we encourage all of you to experience the fun of it! It can be worked at a DK weight gauge up to an aran weight gauge. Talk about versatile! We’d love to help you find a pattern for it!

Wednesday Skill Sessions

Wednesday, Sept 27th, I will be demonstrating how to work German Short Rows. Short rows used to scare me because they sounded so unusual and complicated. I found out that they’re not so scary after all and I like this method best. Sign up for Wednesday Skill Sessions here.

Consider yourself invited to come to My Sister Knits and experience all of our ‘bits and bobs’!

Happy knitting,
