New Yarns and New Books!

My Sister Knits has new yarn and new books for you!

We have all 12 colorways of Julie Asselin’s bulky weight Douillet. This is a single ply yarn that’s a blend of Rambouillet and Columbia wool. Both of these are lofty wools which makes them especially warm and, you might say, cozy! The English translation of Douillet is cozy! The other two words on the ball band translate to ‘enveloping’ and ‘instant’, letting us know that we’ll soon have a finished project that we’ll want to wear often!

We also just unpacked a shipment of her Boucle yarn!  It’s a blend of 70% Alpaca and 30% Highland Peruvian wool whose colorways complement Douillet. The words on their ball bands translate to ‘captivating’ and ‘graceful’. So, if you could find a project that used both yarns, you’d have a quick-to-knit, cozy, captivating, and graceful project.

Guess what! We have just the thing! If you’ve been in the shop lately, it’s likely that you’ve seen the Skog Hat, designed by Jean-Philippe Cliche. This hat is a brand new pattern that was designed using both of these yarns and reminds us of traditional lumberjack hats. We’ve substituted other yarns in our samples but now you can use Julie Asselin’s yarns!

The Sock Project by Summer Lee

This new book is for all sock knitters, including those who want to dip their toes into sock knitting. It’s an inviting book to read with bright candy colors and filled with photographs.  Summer writes in a friendly, conversational style that is easy to understand and grasp the concepts she’s writing about.

In the first part of the book Summer gives us five types of basic socks, each with a different heel. In the second part, there are 25 sock patterns with all sorts of options. It’s definitely a comprehensive guide to socks!

Knitting for Olive

This book tells the engrossing story of how Pernile Larson and her daughter Caroline came to be ‘Knitting for Olive’. It’s a lovely chronicle of how a devotion to knitting became first a pattern design business and then grew to include creating yarns that met their specifications, all the while remaining true to their values.

There are also 20 patterns from hats to sweaters, for all knitting levels.

We invite you to have a seat at the table and take your time browsing through these books!

Happy knitting,
