Wednesday Skill Sessions(April)

For the month of April, we are offering free one-hour long skill sessions; touching on some techniques that are often needed in our knitting. For all of these sessions, please bring light colored worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles to practice with.

4/2- lace Techniques - with Tiina -Homework- Knit 4 rounds of garter and 2 rounds of stockinette on DK or worsted weigh yarn (light color) over 30 sts.

4/9- Portugese Knit & Purl - with Jenny H. Portuguese knitting is a different style of knitting than the traditional English or Continental style that many of us are familiar with. With the use of a shawl pin we are able to change the way that we tension the yarn and create the stitches. The goal in this class is to get used to knitting the knit stitches. If we have time we will try to learn the purl stitches as well. (We will be cheating a little by working on an established piece of knitting sampler so that we are not having to learn everything at once!) Homework: Using a light colored worsted weight yarn and size US 7 or US 8 needles, cast on 30 stitches and knit four rows. Continue knitting your sampler piece in stockinette for two more rows. Bring homework to class, along with your knitting pin.

4/16 -Tillybuddies Cast On - with Erika - stretchy cast on technique

4/23 - 3 Needle Bind Off - with Karen -Homework- bring a swatch at least 30 stitches and leave it on the needles; do not cut yarn

4/30- Mosaic Skill Builder-with Karen -Homework- bring  a swatch at least 20 stiches and leave it on the needles; do not cut yarn.  Optional- bring a second ball of yarn in a different color.
