Join Emma to learn how to make this darling crochet market bag. Students will learn the Sunburst granny square, bag construction, bobble and popcorn stitches, picking up crochet stitches from granny squares, and how to change colors

What level of knitting/crochet knowledge is required to take this class? Chain stitch, slip stitch, triple crochet, double crochet, half-double crochet, single crochet, how to work in the round

Yarn requirements:

While this bag can be made from almost any fiber, I have found that cotton works best for longevity and doesn’t stretch over time. However, the original pattern used acrylic and a wool/acrylic blend. Feel free to play around with fiber content, especially if you find working with cotton to be difficult.

The original pattern uses one solid main color and a slow-changing gradient color for the sunbursts in the middle of the granny squares. You may choose this color scheme or choose different colors for each round to make a “sunflower” granny square. Some samples online use only one color for the whole bag to allow the texture of the stitches to stand out. You are encouraged to play with colors or even use scraps!
