A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

Dear Readers,

Update on my computer…it’s working but there are a few things that need to be tweaked in order for me to get you the best newsletter that I can! You’ll probably notice it the most in the photos. Please bear with me while I learn a new photo editing app!

There are several things we want to tell you about this week.

Kelbourne Woolens Scout

First, we want to tell you that My Sister Knits has restocked Kelbourne Woolens Scout and Cricket! Scout is a DK weight 2 ply heathered wool which is a cross between Corriedale and Merino. It’s not as soft as pure Merino but it’s stronger and more durable so it’s a lovely feeling workhorse of a yarn. Kate and Courtney say that it’s ‘unfussy, beautiful, and high quality’.

Kelbourne Woolens Cricket

Cricket is a fingering weight 100% Merino wool. It’s single ply authentic Donegal tweed yarn, spun in Ireland. It can be knit at tight or loose gauges depending on what you want.

We have lots of colors in both of these yarns! I have a particular fondness for Kate and Courtney who own Kelbourne Woolens and I know they pour their hearts into their yarns.

Next up, we want all sock knitters to be aware of our Sock AMA on Saturday, June 20th from 11-1. I had no clue what AMA meant! It turns out that it means Ask Me Anything. It’s a lecture and discussion class so bring your questions, maybe some yarn and needles, thoughts and ideas and discuss socks!

Lastly, we have some updates on the Hot August Knits yarn crawl. The theme is Sweet Sixteen and you’re going to see it reflected in each shop! Each shop will have their own stitch marker design that matches their mini hank color.

This year we’re going to have a Finisher Prize for everyone who gets to all of the shops and has their Passport stamped from each one. That prize will be a $10 coupon to any of the shops and an exclusive sticker! You’ll register with a QR code at the first shop you visit and from then on you’ll have your paper Passport stamped. When you visit your last shop, you’ll get your Finisher Prize and turn in your Passport to be entered into the drawing for a Grand Prize basket. Each shop has a Grand Prize basket.

There will be fun and useful 15”x15”x3” canvas tote bags for sale. Wait until you see the picture on them with our party theme! You can get a pin from each shop to put on your tote bag and you can decorate your totes with markers or embroidery or anything you can come up with! Each shop will only have 16 bags, for our Sweet Sixteen theme, so get yours while they last!

The patterns for the knit and crochet pattern using the mini hanks will be available by QR code. Remember that they won’t be available anywhere else until February. Get them while you’re crawling!

Happy knitting,
