There’s Still Time!
Have you started yarn crawling yet? If not, there’s still time! You have until Saturday, August 10th to join in the fun.
The purpose of the Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl is to get knitters up and down Hwy 287 acquainted with the yarn shops in our area. They each have a different personality and stock items unique to each shop. ‘Crawlers’ as they are fondly called, have an opportunity to support local yarn shops and find out what’s available close by.
The shops on the crawl offer their own specials. For instance, My Sister Knits has a daily drawing to win valuable prizes and at the end of the crawl, one lucky person will win a $50 gift certificate. Just fill out a white ticket with your name and phone number and you’re entered!
If you’re looking for goodies that aren’t yarn on your yarn crawl, My Sister Knits has a multitude of choices for you! You might like a new book, a candle, cute little snips, a sock ruler that’s also a snap bracelet, or any of a number of wooden items from Katrinkles.
There are other enjoyable aspects of the yarn crawl that might be somewhat unexpected. It’s so much fun to talk to other knitters who are also crawling! There’s a joyful, welcoming atmosphere and you just might find the same people at each shop. Last year I followed a group of three friends and saw them at several shops. We all got to know each other a little bit and enjoyed the experience.
Then there’s the beauty of this area. This is a great chance to take back roads when possible. Highway 287 to Laramie is one of my favorite roads for the sheer beauty of it. Drive down the back roads to Maverick and Fingerplay to delight in some rural sights. And of course, either way you drive to Estes Park to visit Peak to Peak is gorgeous!
You’ll need to plan breaks along the way; that is a perfect time to try a new coffee shop or restaurant. If you want ideas, each yarn shop can recommend places they like.
We hope you have a marvelous time ‘crawling’!
Happy knitting,
