Julie's Rhinebeck Sweater
Julie is headed to Rhinebeck next week. This New York State sheep and wool festival is held at the Duchess County Fairgrounds in beautiful Rhinebeck along the Hudson River. A bit like the Wool Market held here in Estes each summer, this weekend will comprise of two days full of demonstrations, classes, lectures, and all kinds of fiber fun. We can’t wait to hear all about it. You may have heard of Rhinebeck because it typically becomes a hot topic on Ravelry at about this time of year, as knitters headed to the festival start posting information about the projects they are finishing up in order to wear that weekend. Attendees use the event as a perfect venue to showcase their latest (or most impressive) creations, and the informal competition can be stiff.A very common question among folks planning on attending is which sweater will you be wearing? One of our favorite sweater designers, Ysolda Teague has created a fun collection of patterns in answer to that very question. She has curated a book of 5 beautiful fall sweaters from a variety of popular designers that will be released in early November. In honor of that book, and in hopes of meeting Ysolda (who will be signing pre-ordered copies of her book) we hope that Julie decides to wear her Blank Canvas sweater that was knit up with tosh merino DK in the Opaline color last spring.
The sweater is simple, and simply stunning. It showcases the beautiful yarn and sports some very flattering waist shaping that looks terrific on Julie. We will be sure to share photos and stories from her trip when she returns, in the meantime what sweater are you most proud of?
