Coming Soon!

My Sister Knits is hosting a Forbidden Fiber Co. trunk show coming next week!  This is a completely different trunk show than usual.  Most trunk shows feature sample items that are not for sale.  This one will have yarn for sale!

We have asked for five different bases in three weights: Fingering, DK, and Sport.  We think these will be the most popular weights for the summer.

We are excited to get yarns that combine Merino with Yak and Cashmere.  Just think of the lusciousness!  One special yarn that we’re expecting is their linen/cotton blend; perfect for summer knitting!

Babel is a plied Fingering weight yarn consisting of 70% Merino, 20% Yak, and 10% Nylon.

Justice is also a plied Fingering weight yarn with 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Nylon.

Proverbs is a Sport weight plied, machine washable and dryable 60% Cotton and 40% Linen blend.  The special cheerful summer palette for this yarn is only available on Proverbs.

The other two bases on their way to us are a surprise, specifically chosen by Leann Ross, proprietress of FFC!

Forbidden Fiber Co.’s yarns are hand dyed in Tennessee.  Leann sometimes uses inspirational artwork or photography for her colorways. She’ll start with a photo such as this one:

Then she’ll experiment with her collection of primary colors to get just what she wants.  From there, she applies the dyes to the yarn in stages, one color at a time.  Careful blending allows for soft yet clear cut changes in color, rather than abrupt changes.  When the first side has the amount and depth of color that pleases Leann, she flips the yarn over! At this point there will be some white spots of yarn where the dye didn’t get to the bottom of the dye pot.  She colors these in to get the finished product.  Now we know why each skein of yarn is a bit different!

We can’t wait to see the colors in our trunk show yarn! As we look at them we’ll imagine Leann carefully blending the primary colors to her satisfaction and then putting the undyed yarn into the dye pot, adding colors one at a time ending up with just the look she wants!

We encourage you to watch for the arrival of this trunk show early next week!
