An Invitation to Make a Hat Day!

National Make a Hat Day is an unofficial holiday that occurs every September 15th.  We don’t know who started it or when it began but it’s a great way to kick off your fall knitting!

It’s becoming a tradition at My Sister Knits to celebrate Make a Hat Day!  Since September 15th is a Sunday this year, we shall have our party on Saturday, September 14th from 10 until 4.

We have one color, basic stitch pattern hat samples

We invite everyone to come and work on a hat at the shop that day!  The purpose is not to finish a hat in a day but to work on one in a relaxing and fun way.  You can start a new one or continue working on one that you have in progress! There are no rules; except we ask that you use yarn that you bought at My Sister Knits.

We have two color hat samples

If you have never made a hat before, Jenny will be there to guide you through casting on, joining in the round, and starting it.  You can buy the pattern, yarn, and needles that morning if you like! Jenny will also assist you with any questions you may have about making your hat.

If you don’t have a hat pattern in mind, we have an entire basket full of samples at the shop for you to look at and try on.  If none of those suit your desires, we will help you find a hat on Ravelry that you can’t wait to start!

We have a little more intricate hat samples

This celebration will work with your schedule for the day no matter what else you have going on!  You may come at any point during the day and stay for as long or as short as your time allows.

We will have morning treats and afternoon chocolate to sustain us!  We will also end the day with a champagne toast to salute our accomplishments!

We have one color textured hat samples

There is no charge for this fun event but it will be quite helpful for us to know if you are thinking of coming to our Make a Hay Day celebration.  We’d appreciate a call at 970.407.1461. However, you are still absolutely welcome if you decide to join us at the last minute!

We have baby hat samples

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 14th and plan to join us for a delightful knitting event!

Fun hat fact: hatters supply men’s hats and milliners supply women’s hats! Now you know!
