It’s Almost Here!

My Sister Knits is getting ready for the Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl! We’ve finalized our events and are ready to share them! We’re pretty excited about what we’ve planned for these two weeks.

If you’d like additional information, read this post from a few weeks ago.

To recap, the Yarn Crawl runs from Saturday, July 29th through Saturday, August 12th, with seven shops participating.

Saturday, July 29th we have all sorts of events to kick off this year’s Yarn Crawl! We’ll feature three trunk shows: Steve Valdes’ intricate handcrafted wooden boxes, Karen Canino’s handmade jewelry using African Kazuri beads, and Poppy & Spruce Fibers yarn. Abby is an up-and-coming dyer from Denver and we are eager to share her yarn with you! She will be in the shop from 10 until 2 or maybe even longer! To top off the day, we will have samplings of Ummber’s Ice Cream from Morning Fresh Dairy. Yum!

Tuesday, August 1st the trunk show from Emma’s Yarn begins. We’re lucky to have Emma, who lives in Florida, on hand that evening from 5 - 7. She and her sister, Aspen (who now lives in Fort Collins), are the inspirational duo who create this lovely yarn. We’ll have this trunk show for the duration of the yarn crawl. We’re also going to do an Instagram Live event at 5, highlighting My Sister Knits.

Saturday, August 5th Rachel from Six and Seven Fibers will bring a Trunk Show of her latest artistic endeavors with her dye pots! We love seeing what she does with non-superwash yarns! Rachel will be in the shop from 10 until 2. We’ll also have a special one-of-a-kind display of sweaters from our CocoKnits Method classes. You can see this on Instagram Live at 2.

Saturday, August 12th is the last day. We’ll showcase a trunk show from Woolberry Knits in Frederick, a yarn we’ve been patiently waiting to restock!

Planning Your Crawl

If you intend to visit all seven shops, we encourage you to plan ahead! You can, of course, do this in whichever way you like but I’m going to be strategic in my planning!

For instance, on the 29th, my first stop will be Longmont Yarn Shoppe as soon as it opens, then I’ll go to The Loopy Ewe, and end up at My Sister Knits so I can join in the fun here for the rest of the day. I’ll remember to scan the QR codes at each shop to be entered in the drawings at the end!

The shops open on Sunday, July 30th are Peak to Peak, Maverick, Fingerplay Studio, and Longmont Yarn Shop. I’ll already have been to Longmont, so I’ll start in Estes Park with Peak to Peak Stitching. There’s a tea shop I’ve never been to in Estes, so I’ll have Afternoon Tea while I’m there, before I head to Maverick Fiber Arts and Fingerplay Studio. In order to be sure I get to both Maverick and Fingerplay without being rushed, I’ll make Afternoon Tea reservations for 11 am, when they open!

Cowgirl Yarn is open on Mondays, so I’ll finish the Yarn Crawl there on the 31st. There are several restaurants within walking distance, so I’ll ask them where they suggest for lunch.

I’ll have three days of yarny fun visiting yarn shops I’ve never been to and revisiting some that I’m familiar with! I like the idea of spending three days straight doing this, others will shudder with horror at that prospect and will spread their trips out over the two weeks. However you do it, our wish is that you have tons of fun traveling around the region discovering new and interesting yarn shops and restaurants!

Happy knitting,
