January Sweater Class!

You can start 2022 by knitting Kordy!  This sweater is from the Moon and Turtle book that is so popular. ‘Moon and turtle’ is a Japanese saying similar to ‘chalk and cheese’, meaning that even though two things look similar in some way, they are in fact completely different. Each design in this collection offers variations that create a different version of the original pattern!

Identical twins Kiyomi and Sachiko Burgin created the designs in this book. They kept them simple and used classic shapes to showcase their two unique styles. Each design is gender-neutral and offers a broad range of sizing.

Our class for the Kordy sweater starts Saturday, January 8th from 1-4pm, and continues on the 22nd and 29th from 1-3pm. There is some homework before the first class.

First, you need to buy the book and choose 4 colors of worsted weight yarn; the shop sample uses Peace Fleece. Other good choices are Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok, and mYak Baby Yak

Next, you’re asked to make a gauge swatch to ensure correct sizing.

Last, you get to dig right in and start knitting the neckband! Having the two-inch neckband made before the first class enables you to start right in on the colorwork!  You’ll learn how to manage your tension, read and work from a colorwork chart, and you’ll experiment with different ways of holding your yarn.

The second and third classes will get you through the back shaping, picking up stitches, and separating for the sleeves.

Please sign up for this class by January 1st and get ready for your first project of the new year!

We always have fun looking at the colors you choose for your colorwork projects. We ooh and aah over all of them and marvel at the different looks that are reflective of each knitter’s personality and creativity!

We hope you have a lot of fun with Kordy!
