Join us for a special workshop exploring the ceinture fléché ('arrow sash'), a iconic and uniquely Quebecois handicraft. Known for its vibrant arrowhead patterns, the ceinture fléché has deep roots in Quebec’s history, dating back to the 18th century. Originally worn by French-Canadian voyageurs, it became a symbol of identity and resilience for the people of Quebec.
The workshop is given by Félix L'Heureux Bilodeau, a flécherant and fingerweaving teacher from Quebec. During this workshop, you’ll discover the history of this traditional belt and its cultural significance. Felix will provide a live demonstration of the flécher (fingerweaving) techniques, showcasing the skill and artistry behind this craft.
