Traditional Colorwork Mitten Workshop

With Jeannie Giberson

April 21 | 9:00 am | Class limit: 6

Join jeannie to knit a Toddler Mitten – Vidzeme Style at My Sister’s Knits. This is a one day – 6 hour class in which participants will knit a mitten including the thumb. Participants will learn how to pick up and knit well crafted thumbs – this class will almost qualify as a thumb clinic! Participants will be able to handle a number of ethnographic mittens from Latvia and will explore both parallel and bound stranding. This particular mitten uses a style of cuff that is typical in ethnographic mittens from the 18th Century and a graph from the District of Vidzeme. We will learn about all components of Latvian mittens and the peasant thumb – what makes a mitten a Latvian mitten. This is an intermediate to advanced Colorwork class, previous Colorwork experience is required to attend this class,  if you are unsure whether or not this class is a good fit for you, give us a call at (970) 407-1461 or stop by the shop to talk to us!
