Have you ever had a hard time deciding which yarn to use for your next sweater project?…..Used a different yarn than called for in a pattern and been disappointed with the results?…..contemplating knitting your first sweater, but don’t know which pattern and yarn to choose? This class teaches knitters how to understand the construction and characteristics of yarns, and how they effect the selection and execution of a sweater pattern. Learn the difference between woolen and worsted spun; how different animal and plant fibers impact knitting projects; and how yarn choice plays a role in colorwork, texture, drape and fit. Students will be able to use this knowledge to choose the best yarn for sweater patterns and to understand why and how yarn selection impacts knitting FOs.
Materials needed: None, but participants can bring along yarn or sweater patterns that they would like to discuss during class.
Please sign up by January 20th. Class is limited to 18 students, lecture style; call the shop directly if full to be put on a waiting list.
