Back From Vacation!

It was so fun to walk into My Sister Knits this morning, the first time since I got home from my trip, and see all sorts of new things! It was almost like walking into it for the first time all over again!

The first thing I noticed was the absolutely gorgeous yarns from Explorer Knits and Fibers. Ali has rebranded with a new name and new logo. She is now EFK Dye House. Earlier this year she moved to Brooklyn to be nearer her roots. Her team is still in Denver and she visits frequently and has daily calls with them. Being in Brooklyn has allowed Ali to concentrate on creating quietly and at her own pace which is exactly what she wants to be doing.

The colors that she creates are saturated and beautiful. I don’t know how they do it but yarn dyers somehow create colors that are different from each other and each dyer has her or his own touch. The tub of EKF yarns immediately caught my eye as I walked into the shop. You absolutely must come by and give your eyes a treat!

The second thing I noticed was the gorgeous RE:DESIGNED bags that were delivered while I was away. More are on their way and hopefully arrived this afternoon. I am in love with the blue leather color! These are luxurious leather project bags and organizers from Denmark. Their design process is guided by Danish slow living principles creating quality items designed to last and age gracefully. Choose your bag carefully, with the intention of keeping it for many years to come. My favorite is what I refer to as the Doctor Bag but in reality is Project 98. How I would love to have one of those in blue but they don’t come in blue so if I ever get one, it will probably be the Burned Tan color. Or perhaps Walnut. I have time to decide. Hmmmm, I have a birthday next week….a significant one….this might be a great birthday present to myself! What about you? Do you have an excellent self-gift-giving occasion coming up in your life?

The third, and last, thing I noticed was the collection of Mabel & Jess items that we have. These are little so I didn’t notice them right away. I absolutely love my point protectors for my needles; they are so cute and they stay on! We have some new designs of those. We also have their exclusive silver and gold stitch marker necklaces. You can add a set of stitch markers (or use your own) to the carabiner and voila! you always have markers at your fingertips! Mabel & Jess products come to us from Portland, Oregon. Their main materials are gold plated or rhodium plated brass. Rhodium plating improves the shine of silver, extends the life of your jewelry, and it’s from the platinum family.

A word to the wise, Mabel and Jess products sell out quickly and can take awhile to reorder, the same with the RE:DESIGNED products. At the moment we have a good selection so make a plan to come in and look at these lovelies!

Happy knitting,
