Our Winter Class Schedule

Our winter class schedule is out! The My Sister Knits website has all the detailed information listed in the class section, but I wanted to blog a little more in depth about some of the classes that we are really excited about this January, February, and March!

As always, Julie C. will be teaching a Learn to Knit class once a month, but we have also added another monthly class to Julie’s schedule. She recently taught a Fixing Mistakes class for us and it was so popular that it quickly sold out! Due to the high demand, we will have a Fixing Mistakes class every month this winter where students will learn basic fixes like making vertical and horizontal corrections, unraveling, recognizing and correcting twisted and skipped stitches, and common causes for too many or too few stitches. Knitting should be a relaxing and fun hobby, so if you find yourself overwhelmed by dropped stitches or constant unraveling, let Julie help you to identify and fix anything that makes knitting stressful.

Kate S. will be offering a new kind of learning experience in the form of two workshops- one on seaming and one on blocking. These skills are so important to the look of your finished knitted projects, so bring those projects or swatches in to practice these techniques with Kate. The next time you have to seam or block, you will be confident with the information that Kate will give you!

We will also be offering technique classes based around a project so that you have a great finished product to go along with your new skills. I will be teaching a cables class with Churchmouse’s Reversible Cable Neck Wrap and a lace class with Churchmouse’s Diagonal Lace Scarf. Kate will be teaching a felting class with Tiny Owl Knits’ Hopsalot slippers. Our favorite yarns for these projects are included in the price for the class so you are sure to leave with a beautiful knitted item. Come by the shop in the next few months to see the finished projects knitted up by the teachers.

Again, the details for all of these classes including the dates, times, and prices are all in the class section of the My Sister Knits website. Keep an eye on the site in the upcoming months too because we will be adding more classes as we get more ideas. If there is a class that you are interested in, give the shop a call to reserve your spot!
