Marian's Marianated Yarns

My Sister Knits is overflowing with new yarns this summer!Our latest acquisition is Marianated Yarns and we are proud to be one of only 8 yarn shops in the U.S. to carry this yarn. We love that it is hand-dyed in small batches in Marian's home in New Jersey. Ombres and gradients have taken the fiber world by storm and all of us in the shop are in love with them; we're like little kids in a candy store! Ombres have long gradual color changes and gradients are different shades (a color with black added) or tones (a color with gray added) of the same color.Marian's gradient yarns are superwashed so they will stand up to many machine washings; just be sure to let them air dry. As a general rule, superwashing a yarn before it is dyed causes the colors to absorb deeply into the yarn which allows them to be brighter and richer than non-superwashed yarns. Also, the superwashing process makes a yarn perfect for children's garments and socks.We have Marianated Yarns'  Scrumptious HT; 400 yards of 80% merino/10% nylon/10% cashmere yarn with high twist for extra definition (think cables) and texture (think knit and purl stitch patterns). This fingering weight yarn also comes in a Six Pack Half Skein gradient kit with 1200 yards to create something extraordinary!We are putting together a collection of gradient patterns at the shop to get your creative juices flowing.
