Learn a New Skill - Crochet with Shannon Player-Timmons
Calling everyone who has ever wanted to learn to crochet! We have a marvelous new teacher, Shannon Player-Timmons, to teach us!Shannon is a talented yarn dyer, owner of Yarn Baby yarns, and an accomplished crocheter. We are tickled pink that she's come into our midst!Shannon will teach basic crochet skills such as chaining (ch), single crochet (sc), and half double crochet (hdc) which will be enough to make this lovely sample:She will also teach us how to hold a crochet hook (yes, there is more than one way) and how to read and follow a crochet pattern.
When asked about the differences between knitting and crochet, Shannon replied, "you can make machines that knit but there are no machines that crochet" which is something to ponder! She also says that mistakes are easier to deal with when crocheting and, because of that, it's easier to learn than knitting. Also, there is only one tool involved, not two! Her class will use a size H crochet hook which translates to a size 9 knitting needle.
Shannon's style of teaching is fun and laid back, therefore expect two relaxing and enjoyable evenings learning a new skill! Her class will run over two Tuesdays, April 4th and 11th from 6 - 7:30. Call the shop at 970.407.1461 to sign up!
But, wait, there's more! On Saturday, April 15th, we are hosting a pop-up shop for Shannon's hand dyed yarn. All of her dying takes place in her kitchen in Windsor, CO! She has weights from sock to bulky and many of her yarn bases are a wool/silk blend from the UK, creating soft, squishy, splendid yarns!
Shannon started hand dying yarn 5 years ago and now sells to customers around the world. Her pop-up shop presents a unique occasion to see her yarn!
We encourage you to take part in her crochet class and to come to her pop-up shop; you'll be glad you did!
