Fresh off the needles: Quick Sand

This is Julie Conway's version of Heidi Kirrmaier's Quick Sand cardigan, modeled by Theresa, and knit up with eleven skeins of Quince and Co.'s Kestrel."A sleek, minimalist design that lets the yarn shine! It is worked from the top down, entirely seamlessly. The instructions comprise only a few repetitive elements, so it’s easy to find your knitting rhythm. Suitable for a knitter with some experience with top down knitting.To the discerning eye of a knitter it will be apparent that the shaping is achieved through elegantly placed lifted increases throughout the yoke and carried down the back. A few short rows are used to make the front sections a touch shorter than the back. Altogether, the result is a simple and wearable cardigan."Julie used the US #9 needle called for in the pattern, but ended up with a slightly tighter gauge.  She followed the directions for a size XL, which produced measurements matching the M2 size.This pattern includes sizing in a generous range from 31.5" to 51.5" busts.  The fabric looks its best when made with yarn that has a great drape.  The 100% organic linen Kestrel is delicious and we would imagine that an alpaca blend might make a warmer version for the cooler days ahead we're all looking forward to.We hope that you'll have a chance to check out this gorgeous sweater on your next visit!  We look forward to seeing you soon.
