Blankies

Baby blankets...  We noticed that many of our customers have blankets on their minds and have been eager for our recommendations.  If you have a blankie that needs to be created this spring you may want to consider some that we've been working on (or would like to).

Kristin just recently finished a beautiful version of the Shadow Stripe Baby Blanket.  She knit hers up with a US 7 needle and a combination of Anzula's Cricket and Madelinetosh Merino DK yarns.  Both of these yarns are superwashed and so are machine washable.  This feature can ensure your thoughtful hand made gift will last a lifetime.

shale babyOne of our favorite blankies that we love to encourage newer knitters eager to try is the Shale Blanket designed by Jared Flood.  It's classic feather and fan lace motif is an easy one to master and creates a finished throw that is heirloom quality.  We've seen it beautifully knit up in all kinds of yarn choices from Berroco's Vintage and Cascade's Eco Cloud to Anzula's For Better or Worsted. We love the classically simple Garter Blocks pattern from Churchmouse Yarns & Teas.  It looks equally terrific knit up with soft neutrals as it does with a bold contrast of black and white. And last but certainly not least is a new arrival in the shop: the Tweed Baby Blanket.  This is another sophisticated blanket designed by Jared Flood and one that puts a beautiful spin on a basic garter stitch bias design. bt blankie 01Bich-Thu created a sample of this for us with four skeins of main color and two skeins border color in Swans Island All American Collection Worsted.   This delightfully soft blend of merino and a touch of alpaca creates a blankie as soft as a cloud. We'd love to share our other ideas and yarn suggestions (machine or hand wash) for your upcoming baby hand knits.  Stop on by or give us a call and we can find the perfect project for a gift you can be proud to give.
