Oh, the Possibilities!

My Sister Knits has a new sweater on display for you! This one is Joji Locatelli’s Super Simple Summer Sweater. This pattern is aptly named! You don’t even need to pick up stitches for the sleeves which can be daunting. You just put stitches that are held on Barber cords or waste yarn back onto the needle and you’re on your way! Easy peasy!

Super Simple Summer Sweater

This sweater has a loose, boxy fit with a split hem and is designed to fit with 6 - 9” of ease. In addition to being an easy sweater suitable for adventurous beginners, this pattern lets your imagination run free! The pattern does use some short rows for shaping. Here is a video on how to use simple German short rows rather than the wrap and turn technique which is more fiddly.

Julie Asselin Boucle

Our sample is made with Julie Asselin Boucle, a worsted weight blend of 70% alpaca and 30% wool. This makes a super soft sweater! However, if you’d like to use a different yarn, we have several suggestions for you. Remember that you don’t have to use the same yarn throughout. For instance, if you like a vibrant color from one company and a neutral from another company, go for it!

Walcot Yarns Origin

Our yarn suggestions are all worsted weight but you could also hold two lighter weight yarns together to approximate a worsted weight. As long as you get gauge and like the fabric you’ve created, you could hold two fingering weight yarns together. If you want to get into the details of exactly how to figure out the weight of two yarns held double, this blog post will give you all of the information you need!

Spincycle Dream State

Choosing your colors is where you can let your imagination know no bounds! You could use just one color or several colors. You could stay monochromatic or go bold with two vivid colors. You could make every other stripe boucle! Take a look at the project pages on Ravelry to get your creative juices flowing as the possibilities are endless!
