Colorwork Wednesdays!

Are you a stranded colorwork enthusiast? If so, you’re going to be excited about a bi-weekly gathering at My Sister Knits!

This gathering grew out of a class that Jenny Hubbard, stranded colorwork knitter extraordinaire, taught in November. The students in that class wanted to continue knitting stranded colorwork projects and wanted to get together at the shop to do this.

This has since become a regular occurrence! We’re taking this opportunity to let all of our readers know about this casual group that has become a mainstay every other Wednesday! The next one will be May 4th from 1 - 3 so be sure to mark your calendars!

Colorwork Wednesdays are for anyone doing a stranded colorwork project who wants to knit with others engaged in the same type of knitting. Everyone shares their enthusiasm for stranded colorwork and learns as they go along.

Jenny is there to facilitate the group and answer your questions as they arise. There is no set program, no set project, just knitters knitting together doing something they love.

There is no prior sign-up required and no charge for this gathering. This group respects the fact that Julie offers the space for free and, to show that respect, only knits with yarn purchased at My Sister Knits. Also, a basic knowledge of stranded colorwork is required. If you’d like to dip your knitting needles into stranded colorwork, we suggest you take a hat class that will be offered in the fall.

If no class is available, we’d like to recommend tin can knits’ Colourwork Knitting: An Introduction. Tin can knits has excellent tutorials, containing videos and text, on almost anything you might want to learn! They are passionate about helping new knitters be successful in their endeavors and offer many free learn-to-knit patterns and tips and tricks.
