Shibui Knits introduced their brand new sister company Camp Color this week! My Sister Knits has a trunk show with many samples so you can see for yourself the fun, lively, and impertinent interpretations of the term ‘camp’.
We aren’t talking summer or day camp….think Cher, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, and David Bowie with audacious and dynamic outfits, all in good fun!
Sweet Tooth palette
English fashion and textile designer Dame Zandra Rhodes (who designed for Princess Diana, members of Queen, and other celebrities) describes ‘camp’ as something that is over the top, something that wouldn’t go unnoticed and has a sense of humor about it; it’s joyous and out of the ordinary.

Camp Color is just that, a happy, riotous collection of colors! There are three color collections; autumnal High Fidelity, vibrant Rainbow Is My Favorite Color, and pastel Sweet Tooth.
Rainbow Is My Favorite Color palette
Both Rainbow Is My Favorite Color and Sweet Tooth have a colorway with a neutral background (black or white) and sections that include all of the colors in that palette. These skeins make eye-catching ribbing and very fun intermittent sets of stitches with all the colors!
The patterns designed specifically for Camp Color might perhaps be a tad out of your usual pattern choice but keep an open mind as they are delightful and fun-loving. It’s time for a little walk on the wild side for all of us!
High Fidelity palette
There’s a hat with a tiny bit of brioche at the top, perfect to practice basic brioche and decreasing in brioche. We suggest putting in a life line when the brioche starts!
Arm warmers with a thumb hole provide a whimsical touch to an outfit or are handy to tuck into bags on hikes or bike rides. Fanciful? Practical? You decide!
Fortunately for crocheters, there is an awesome shawl and a long cowl. Either of those is enough to have anyone eager to learn crochet!
You really do have to come into the shop to see this out of the ordinary collection of colors and patterns! We will have the trunk show until June 6th; this is a must see!
