Learn to Knit and other June Classes

My Sister Knits is so excited to offer our first brand-new, revamped, in-depth Learn to Knit class in June! We put much thought into this class and are certain it will turn anyone into a confident knitter!

This class is an in-person five-hour thorough introduction to knitting.  No experience is needed. Students will make a hat and learn so much in the process! Included with the class is a kit that has been thoughtfully put together and contains absolutely everything that is needed to complete this cozy hat!

When they are done with the class, students will have the knowledge and skills to immediately start their next project. Some but not all of the skills they will come away with are how to cast on, knit, purl, decrease, knit in the round, use the magic loop technique to knit small circumferences, read a simple pattern, and block their finished project.

I (Jenny) am teaching this class and I’m thrilled that I get to introduce people to the art and pleasure of knitting! Class size is intentionally kept small in order to provide one-one, hands-on help. Students can think of me as their safety net as I walk them through the skills in this class!

We hope that our readers will pass along this information to anyone they know over 15 who wants to learn to knit or even give this class as a gift!  Click here to sign up online.

We have several other in-person offerings in June:

Ravelry 101

Every knitter needs to know about Ravelry!  It’s a free website with astounding amounts of information including patterns, yarns, helpful forums, designers, etc. This class is a great introduction to the basics of Ravelry.

Jelly Roll Socks

These are the cutest little anklet socks! Students will learn how to make the rolled cuff which requires two sets of needles. The slipped stitch pattern provides arch support and there are three ways to do the ribbed section.

Andrea Mowry’s Shift Cowl

This cowl is so much fun to make!  The pattern quickly becomes relaxing and repetitive but certainly not boring with the delightful color changes. It’s a nice alternative to a shawl because it stays in place yet it still is large enough to be cozy and warm.

Beginner Beanie Hat

This class is for knitters who already know how to knit and purl. The name of the pattern is the Regular Guy Beanie.  Students will learn the necessary basics of making a hat including but not limited to knitting in the round, decreasing, ribbing, and reading a pattern.

Basic Knitting

This is an introduction to knitting, not as intensive as the Learn to Knit class.  Students will learn to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off while making a rectangular swatch.

Fixing Mistakes

Students will learn how to fix common knitting mistakes that we all make, no matter our skill level! Learning how to recognize and fix simple mistakes is all part of knitting skill-building and is essential to level-up your knitting!

Frost Petals Colorwork Hat

This gorgeous two-color hat is an adventure in colorwork! Students will learn how to do a Latvian braid which adds a stunning detail to the brim in addition to color dominance, how to manage working with two colors, and a provisional cast on.

Happy Knitting!
