Biches & Buches Yarn Is Here
Biches & Buches aran weight le gros lambswool is among the newest yarns to find a home at My Sister Knits.
Many of the yarns we carry have interesting stories behind them and this is another one! Astrid, Caroline, and Louise are a Scandinavian family who have made their home in Burgundy, France.
Astrid Troland was on a quest for yarn that she wanted to use for her designs which are a blending of Norwegian inspiration, clean lines, sophistication, and cosiness. She wanted something that reminded her of her Scandinavian roots, was a little rustic but soft at the same time, and would make long-lasting sweaters that are a delight to wear. Her quest ended with the discovery of a family owned fiber mill in Scotland, which is where Biches and Buches lambswool comes from.
When sheep are about seven months old they are shorn for the first time. This is lambswool! It is fine and soft and doesn’t need much processing. It’s also the most hypoallergenic of all wool.
Adding to the charm of this yarn is the fact that the ball bands are hand written by Caroline! They give you a homey introduction to the wool! The suggested needle size is a US 6 or 7 and there are 210 yards in each 100g skein. The suggested gauge is 16 to 18 stitches over 4 inches.
We have two natural colors: undyed light grey and undyed dark grey brown. We encourage you to double check your skeins when you purchase a light grey to be sure they are the same colorway. The natural undyed light grey and the dyed light grey have subtle but distinct differences!
You will find this new addition to My Sister Knits under the windows as you walk in the door.
We invite you to come in and check out this squishy yarn direct from a lamb in Scotland!
